Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Men's Basketball team was scorching hot early.  But they went cold and never found their touch back in a 73-64 non-conference loss to Benedictine University in Flood Arena on Saturday.

Beloit started the game making five of their first six shots to build an 11-1 lead just over three minutes in.  But the shots stopped falling while Benedictine went on a 17-6 run over the next eight minutes to grab an 18-17 lead.  BU built their advantage to 31-21 late in the half before settling for a 33-25 lead at the break.

The Buccaneers slowly chipped away for the better part of the second half, pulling to within one at 53-52 with 5:16 left.  But the Eagles went on an 11-4 run to take a 64-56 lead with 1:36 left and then made five free throws in the final minute to keep the Bucs at bay.  Beloit never got closer than five after Benedictine's run.

David Bremner led four Buccaneers in double figures with 15 points.  Tyler Butke added 13, 11 in the first half, and Ahmad Shamsid-Deen had a career-high 12.  Michael Horton had ten.

Beloit head back to Midwest Conference play for the rest of the season with four straight home games, starting Tuesday night when they host Carroll University.  Tipoff is at 7:30 p.m.
