Ripon, WI -- It looked like a second straight overtime game for the Beloit College Men's Basketball team on Wednesday night.  Until a desperation three-pointer at the buzzer gave Ripon College a 70-67 Midwest Conference win.

Michael Horton hit a short jumper with three seconds left to tie the game at 67.  After a timeout Ripon came down the left sideline and a 30-footer at the buzzer gave them the win, denying the Bucs a big road MWC victory.

Beloit was seemingly battling from behind the entire game.  A 13-6 run by Ripon midway through the first half gave them an eight-point 22-14 lead with 6:43 left in the first half.  But the Bucs closed the half on a 13-4 run, with Travis Towns' two free throws giving them their first lead since the opening points at 27-26 going into the break.

In the second half the score was tied at 30-all at the 17:30 mark before a 9-3 Red Hawk run put them up six with 14:23 remaining.  The Buccaneers answered with a 10-4 run over the next three minutes to even it up at 43-43.  RC had a 5-0, one-plus minute spurt to go back up five but, again, Beloit responded, this time with six unanswered points, to regain the lead at 49-48 with 8:29 left.

Neither team could push in front by more than three in the last eight minutes (there were nine ties total in the game with 13 lead changes).  Ripon missed the front end of a bonus with 15 seconds left and the Bucs rebounded.  Following a timeout the ball got to Horton, who wound his way into the lane for the game-tying jumper as the clock hit three seconds, setting the stage for the Red Hawks' miraculous finish.

David Bremner went for 20 points to lead the Buccaneers.  Tyler Butke added 15 and Towns 12.  Horton finished with 11 points and eight assists.

The Bucs step away from MWC play for the last time this season on Saturday when they host Benedictine University in the first of a five-game homestand.  Tipoff is at 4:00 p.m. in Flood Arena.
