Three-Point Barrage in First Five Minutes Sends Buccaneers to Loss at Grinnell

Grinnedll, IA -- The Beloit College Men's Basketball team couldn't come back from an early barrage of made three-pointers by Grinnell College in a 117-84 loss on Friday night.

The Pioneers made four three's in the first five minutes of the game to race to a 20-7 lead and never looked back.  Beloit made a 14-2 run to pull back within four points at 31-27 just past the midway point of the half but GC responded with a 23-8 run of their own to build a 19-point advantage with 3:15 left in the half.  Grinnell led 68-50 at the break.

The Pioneers finished with 13 three-pointers in the first 20 minutes (19 for the game).

The Buccaneers scored the first basket of the second half to pull back within 16 at 68-52 but that's as close as they would get the rest of the way.  The biggest lead of the night was 35 points with 33 seconds left.  The Bucs never got closer than 26 after the 9:10 mark.

David Bremner led the way with a double-double, scoring 19 points and grabbing ten rebounds.  He added a career-high six assists.  Travis Towns and Tyler Butke each scored 14 while James Lazarcik added 13.

Beloit turns right around for another Midwest Conference game on Saturday afternoon, playing at Knox College at 3:00 p.m.
