Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Men's Basketball team had a strong defensive game and had a good second half of shooting to take a 69-59 win over Knox College in Flood Arena on Friday night.
The win was the second straight for Beloit in Midwest Conference play.
Knox had the advantage early on, jumping out to an 11-4 lead less than five minutes into the game. But the Bucs got going with a 12-0 run over the next five minutes to grab a 16-11 advantage midway through the half. The game was close throughout the rest of the half until Beloit had a 6-0 spurt in the final 2:27 to lead 34-27 at the break.
The Buccaneers maintained control throughout the second half while shooting 50% from the field. KC got as close as four at 48-44 with 9:57 left but a three-minute 9-2 run by Beloit put their advantage back up to 11 at 57-46. Other than Knox pulling to within six with 32 seconds left the Bucs never led by less than eight in the final 6:45.
Tyler Butke led the way with 18 points on 8-12 shooting while David Bremner added 15 and Joe Poshepny ten. Michael Horton chipped in eight with a team-high six rebounds and seven assists.
Beloit looks to keep the good feeling going on Saturday afternoon as they take on MWC co-leader Lake Forest College in a 4:00 p.m. game in Flood.
