Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Men's Basketball team hit the floor shooting on Saturday afternoon in Flood Arena, building a good lead and then never looking back in an 86-64 Midwest Conference win over Lawrence University.
Beloit led 23-12 by midway through the opening half and held their double-digit advantage through all but about 16 seconds the rest of the half. The largest lead was the halftime score of 49-30 after Michael Horton drained a three-pointer as the first-half buzzer sounded. David Bremner and Tyler Butke both had 15 in the half and the team shot 54.1% (20-37), including 5-6 from three-point.
The Buccaneers never let up in the second half, maintaining their double-figure lead throughout. LU got back within ten twice in the second 20 minutes - at 52-42 just over two minutes in and at 63-53 with 9:09 remaining. But the Bucs continually answered every threat. They got the lead up to 20 points with 2:18 left at 81-61. The largest lead was the final score.
Bremner and Butke both finished with 21 points, Butke tying his career high set Friday night against Grinnell. Michael Horton had 18 with eight assists and James Lazarcik recorded a double-double with ten points and 11 rebounds.
Beloit looks to keep their home-court momentum going next weekend when they host Knox College on Friday night and Lake Forest College Saturday afternoon. Action begins Friday at 7:00 p.m.
