Jacksonville, IL -- The Beloit College Men's Basketball team kept coming but just couldn't break through in a 75-64 loss at Illinois College on Saturday.
The Bucs trailed 10-7 five minutes into the game but a 7-0 run by IC pushed the deficit to ten at 17-7 with 12:51 left. Beloit pulled back to within seven but the Blueboys put together an 11-3 spurt to go up 34-19 at the 1:42 mark. Illinois College led 37-24 at the break.
The Buccaneers traded baskets through the first eight minutes of the second half until IC pushed their lead to 53-38 midway through. Beloit slowly chipped away at the lead and got as close as seven with 1:43 left but the Blueboys hit six free throws in the final 1:28 while the Bucs went cold to seal the win.
David Bremner hit for 24 points while James Lazarcik added 19. Both had eight rebounds. Michael Horton had nine points and seven assists.
The Buccaneers continue their long season-opening road trip on Wednesday night when they play at St. Norbert College in De Pere. Tip off is at 7:00 p.m.
