Sheboygan, WI -- The Beloit College Men's Basketball team rallied late but fell short in a 94-83 loss at Lakeland College on Tuesday night.
The Buccaneers jumped on top early in the game, putting together a 10-3 run to break away from a 9-all tie to a 19-12 lead at the 9:56 mark. But Lakeland answered with a 10-2 run over the next three-plus minutes to grab a 22-21 advantage with 6:39 left in the half.
Beloit tied it at 25-25 with 4:37 remaining but the Muskies stretched it out again with a 10-4 run to go up by six. LC led 35-31 at the break.
In the second half the Bucs pulled to within two at 39-37 four minutes in but Lakeland went on an 11-3 tear in just over a minute to take a 50-40 lead at 12:31.
The Muskies built on their lead throughout the next seven minutes, peaking at 79-59 with 3:53 left. The Buccaneers kept charging and pulled as close as ten points with 1:39 left to cap a 17-7 run. But that was as close as they'd get as LC held on down the stretch.
David Bremner led the way with 23 points. Travis Towns had 16 while Michael Horton tallied 13 points, eight rebounds and nine assists. James Lazarcik added 11 points.
Beloit will take some time for Thanksgiving before heading into Midwest Conference play on Sunday afternoon at Lake Forest College. Tip-off is at 3:00 p.m.
