Waukesha, WI -- The Beloit College Men's Basketball team took just under two minutes to get going on Wednesday at Carroll University. But once they did they were well on their way to a 99-78 win.
The Bucs spotted the Pioneers the first five points of the game. After that they took off on a 21-0 run over the next eight minutes to take control of the contest. Their lead hit 20 at 30-10 at the 8:01 mark on a Chris Bremner three-pointer. Carroll cut the deficit down to 13 at 38-25 with 2:34 left before Beloit regained control, closing the half on an 8-0 spurt to lead 46-25 at the break.
David Bremner and Michael Horton both had 11 first-half points.
The Buccaneers kept going in the second half, pushing the lead as high as 28 points at 62-34 at the 14:35 mark on a Horton layin. CU refused to fold and got back within 12 with 6:15 remaining. But a closing 18-9 run by Beloit gave them their fourth win in six games.
Horton led the way with 20 points and dished out seven assists. David Bremner had 17 while Chris Bremner added 12, including three three-pointers.
The Buccaneers look to keep their late-season drive going with a pair of Midwest Conference road games this weekend, playing at Illinois College on Friday night and at Monmouth College on Saturday.
