Bucs Break Out in a Big Way, Dominate Knox

Galesburg, IL -- The Beloit College Men's Basketball team has been looking for a game like this for several weeks.

Behind a dominant opening half, the Bucs clubbed Knox College 86-61 in Galesburg, Illinois on Friday night to snap a four-game losing streak.

After the Prairie Fire scored the first point of the game, the Buccaneers took off on a 35-14 run to move ahead 35-15 with 5:59 remaining in the first half.  They kept up the pressure and headed to the lockerroom with a 47-21 advantage.

David Bremner had a double-double by halftime with ten points and 11 rebounds while Michael Horton hit for 12 points as the Bucs shot 50% from the field.

There was no letup in the second half as Beloit continued hitting on all cylinders.  They steadily increased the lead until it hit a high of 36 at 75-39 with 9:07 remaining.  Head coach Brian Vraney started emptying his bench at the point, with 16 players seeing the court, 12 of them hitting the scoring column.

Patrick Kenny led the way with 16 points.  Bremner finished with 15 points and a career-high 14 rebounds while Horton had 15 points and eight assists.

The Buccaneers will look to keep the momentum on their side on Saturday when they play at Lake Forest College.  Gametime is at 5:00 p.m.
