Austin, TX -- The Beloit College Men's Basketball team held an early lead but couldn't survive a mid-game run by the host team and fell 73-60 to Concordia University to close out their two-game Texas road trip on Friday.
The Buccaneers jumped out to a 9-3 lead four minutes into the game and led 16-6 at the 12:24 mark. But CTX pulled back to within two with 6:30 left at 23-21 run.
Beloit got their largest lead at 35-24 after a four-minute 12-3 run. Again the host Tornados came back, going on a 9-0 run to close the half with the Bucs still leading 35-33.
Concordia continued their run in the second half, expanding their lead to 51-42 eight minutes in. The Buccaneers slowly sliced into the deficit and pulled to within three several times, the last with 4:30 left at 62-59. But the Tornados out-scored Beloit 11-1 from that point to the buzzer to win going away.
David Bremner had a double-double with 17 points and ten rebounds to lead the way. Patrick Kenny added ten points.
The Buccaneers return to Midwest Conference action on January 5 at Grinnell College, with tipoff coming at 7:00 p.m.
