Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Men's Basketball team had fell victim to Ripon College's 6-0 run in the final minute as they dropped a 74-68 decision at Flood Arena on Tuesday night.
The game was tied for the sixth time at 68-all with 1:25 left before the Red Hawks scored the final six points of the game for the win.
The Buccaneers shook off an early deficit and ran out to a six-point lead at 14-8 six minutes into the opening half. But Ripon responded with a 17-4 run to build a seven-point lead at 25-18 at the 8:05 mark.
RC held that advantage at 33-26 until the Bucs put together a half-closing 6-2 spurt to close within 35-32 at the break.
The Red Hawks maintained their lead through the first 14 minutes of the second half until an 8-0 run by Beloit gave them the lead at 64-63 with 3:04 remaining.
RC stretched their lead back out to four at 68-64 but the Bucs responded with four free throws by Travis Towns, making it a one-point game with 1:25 lead. But that's as close as the Buccaneers would get.
Derek Carrier scored 22 points and David Bremner 19 to lead the Bucs while Towns added 16. Patrick Kenny had six assists.
The Bucs look to turn things around with a pair of MWC home games this weekend, hosting Knox College on Friday night and Grinnell College on Saturday afternoon. Game time Friday is at 7:00 p.m.
