Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Men's Basketball came oh-so-close to pulling off a big upset before falling to 12th-ranked St. Norbert College 77-69 in overtime in Flood Arena on Saturday afternoon.
The Bucs trailed 4-3 two minutes into the game before outscoring SNC 24-14 over the next ten minutes to grab a 10-point lead with 8:59 remaining in the half.
The Green Knights answered with a 16-5 run over the next seven minutes to take a one-point lead with 1:37 left. St. Norbert led 35-29 at the break.
The Buccaneers gradually cut into the deficit in the first nine minutes of the second half, finally tying it up at 47-47 with 11:12 left in regulation.
Neither team could get more than a four-point advantage the rest of the half. The Green Knights took a 65-62 lead with ten seconds left on a pair of free throws. Beloit then brought the ball down the court and Michael Horton hit a three-pointer with five seconds remaining to force the extra period.
In overtime, SNC took the lead for good with 2:19 left on a layin and then made four free throws in the final 25 seconds to stretch the final score.
David Bremner had a game-high 20 while Travis Towns added 15 and Horton 13.
The Buccaneers are right back on the Flood Arena floor on Tuesday night when they host Ripon College. Tipoff is at 7:30 p.m.
