Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Men's Basketball team had played back-to-back close Midwest Conference games in the last week. Though they were losses, the confidence was building for the squad.
That confidence took a blow on Friday night in Flood Arena when the Buccaneers suffered from a cold shooting performance in a 77-56 loss to Lake Forest College.
The game was tight through the first eight minutes until LFC went on a 13-3, eight-minute run that pushed their lead to 12 at 27-15 with 4:22 remaining before halftime.
The Foresters built their advantage to 40-23 at the break, closing the half with a 13-8 run.
The Bucs shot just over 25% in the opening 20 minutes.
Lake Forest kept up the pressure in the second half, building their 17-point halftime lead up to 23 at the 16:50 mark and then keeping it at 20 or above for the final 11 minutes of the game. The largest lead was 72-44 with four minutes left.
Alex McDonald and David Bremner led the Bucs with nine points each, McDonald tying a career-high, while Derek Carrier and Michael Horton each added six.
Beloit will try to break out of their recent slump when they host Illinois College in Flood Arena on Saturday afternoon in a 4:00 p.m. tipoff.
