Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Men's Basketball team came up painfully short of a win on Saturday in Flood Arena, falling to Carroll University 52-49.
The first half was tight throughout, with ten lead changes and five ties, before Michael Horton hit a jumper with four seconds left to give Beloit a 32-31 advantage at the break.
The second half was nearly as close as the first, with the lead changing five times in the first 12 minutes. But CU broke away from a 44-44 tie at the 8:36 mark with a modest 8-3 run over the next five minutes and the Buccaneers could never quite get back to even.
Patrick Kenny's three-point try at the buzzer missed left.
Travis Towns led the way with 15 points and eight rebounds. Derek Carrier added nine points, as did Derek Lovgren. David Bremner also grabbed eight rebounds.
The Bucs head for Appleton on Tuesday night for an MWC game with Lawrence University. They return home next Friday to host Lake Forest College. Tuesday's tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
