Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Men's Basketball team couldn't make up the points they lost late in the first half and dropped a 77-54 decision to the University of Dubuque in Flood Arena on Saturday afternoon.
The game was close through the first 13 minutes of the opening half before the Spartans put together a quick burst of scoring and spread the lead out to double figures.
Beloit trailed 22-17 at the 7:00 mark before UD went on a 6-0 run over the next two-plus minutes to go up 30-17 with 4:39 left in the half. The Bucs cut the deficit back to seven before Dubuque took a 36-27 lead at the break.
The Spartans hit a three-pointer 42 seconds into the second half to get their lead back up to 12 and that was as close as the Buccaneers would get. The largest lead of the game was the final score.
Travis Towns had 19 points to lead the Bucs while David Bremner added 14.
Beloit now has a week to prepare for the Midwest Conference opening weekend. They play at Grinnell College next Friday night before traveling to Knox College on Saturday afternoon. Gametime Friday is at 7:00 p.m. and Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
