Beloit, WI -- Senior defensive end Brian Flanagan (Midlothian, Ill./Oak Forest) and freshman running back Mason Dixon (Walworth, Wis./Big Foot) have earned the Midwest Conference's Defensive and Offensive Player of the Week honors, respectively, for the week ending September 22. The Conference Office announced the honors on Monday afternoon.
Flanagan had a team-high 11 tackles, eight solo, and 4.5 sacks in the Bucs' 38-21 win over Lawrence University in the Homecoming Game last Saturday. The 4.5 sacks are the second-most in Beloit history, trailing only two players - Darren Walters vs. Knox in 1998 and John Kaminski vs. Grinnell in 1985 - who both had five.
Dixon rushed the ball 12 times for 200 yards and three touchdowns. The 200-yard effort, his second straight 100-yard plus game, marked just the 14th time a Beloit player has rushed for 200-plus yards in a game.
The Buccaneer are back in action next Saturday at Grinnell College, the first of two straight road games.
