Jacksonville, IL -- The Beloit College Football team hung close at Illinois College until the Blueboys scored twice in the fourth quarter for a 31-9 win on Saturday afternoon.
IC got a first-quarter touchdown on a one-yard pass and a 31-yard field goal in the second quarter to lead 10-0 at the break. They moved up 17-0 early in the second half before the Bucs got themselves back in it. Matias Grande booted a 27-yard field goal at 6:04 of the third to make it 17-3 and then three minutes later Will Coyne hit Dillon Hess with a 22-yard scoring pass to pull Beloit back within one score. But the Blueboys got a pair of TDs in a two-minute span early in the fourth quarter to secure the win.
Coyne threw for 124 yards. Hess had three catches for 60 yards and Raymond Thomas led the rushing attack with 44 yards.Defensively the Buccaneers kept coming, getting 12 tackles from both Daniel Collins and Matt Floyd. Tyler Coleman added ten and Ian Dunning nine, including the team's lone sack. Coleman and Joel Edouard had interceptions while Edouard had one of the team's two fumble recoveries.
Beloit returns to Strong Stadium next Saturday for the first of its final two home games of the season when they host Ripon College. Kickoff is at 1:00 p.m.
