Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Football team couldn't get anything going their way in a 48-8 loss to Cornell College in the annual Homecoming Football Game at Strong Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The Rams scored once in the opening quarter and twice in the second quarter to lead 21-0 at the break. They tacked on two more TDs in the third quarter before Lukeson Versulien got the Buccaneers on the board on a 44-yard pass and run from Will Coyne at the 9:43 mark of the third. Coyne then hit Dillon Hess with a two-point conversion.
CC closed out the scoring with a touchdown late in the third and one midway through the fourth.
Versulien finished with 217 all-purpose yards, also getting 28 rushing yards and 112 yards on kick returns. Coyne had 127 yards passing. On defense Daniel Collins recorded 12 tackles, eight solo, while Derrell Carter had ten, six solo. Collins also forced a fumble, which was picked up by Tyler Coleman. Carter had Beloit's lone sack.
The Bucs look to turn things around as they hit the road for two games, starting next Saturday at Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois. Kickoff is at 1:00 p.m.
