Beloit College Head Football Coach Chris Brann has announced the naming of Alex Cook as Offensive Coordinator and Michael Wilson as Defensive Coordinator for the upcoming 2012 season.
“I’m very excited about the addition of Alex and Michael,” said Brann. “Both come to Beloit with outside experience at other programs, both having worked at high-end academic institutions. They’ll provide a real boost to both sides of the ball.”
Cook comes to Beloit from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, where he was the Co-Offensive Coordinator for the last two seasons. Prior to that he was the Wide Receivers Coach at Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, and Colorado College in Colorado Springs for one season each.
“Alex is intelligent, polished, and has a great football mind,” said Brann. “He has a great presence on the field and a good demeanor. I know our players are really going to enjoy working with him.”
Wilson is returning to Beloit after a season at the University of Chicago as the Maroons’ Linebackers and Strength and Conditioning Coach. Previously he coached at Beloit from 2008 to 2010, also as the Defensive Coordinator and the Video Coordinator. He also coached at North Central College in Naperville, Illinois, for two seasons.
“Mike brings a sense of continuity to the staff, even though he was not here last season,” Brann said. “He’s a very good recruiter and the players enjoy his presence.”
The Buccaneers open pre-season camp in early August and play their first game of the 2012 season on September 1 at the University of Chicago. They open Midwest Conference play on September 8 vs. Monmouth College at Strong Stadium.
