Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Football team rallied back from a two-TD deficit but fell short in a 28-21 Homecoming Game loss to Grinnell College at Strong Stadium on Saturday.

Derek Carrier caught 11 passes for 150 yards and two touchdowns to become the all-time leader in receiving yardage for the Bucs.  He now has 2,564, surpassing the mark of Julian Ross (2007-10).

The Bucs got on the board first, completing a six-play, 63-yard drive with an 11-yard end around by Carrier four minutes into the game.  They made that lead stand up thru the quarter to lead 7-0 after one.

Grinnell tied it up at the 9:22 mark of the second quarter with a 25-yard scoring run and then took the lead into the lockerroom on a three-yard run two minutes before the break.

The Pioneers increased their advantage to 21-7 with 3:15 left in the third quarter on a 78-yard pass and run but Beloit cut into the lead two minutes later when Brian Maughn hooked up with Carrier on a 44-yard scoring play.  GC led 21-14 after three.

Grinnell put some distance between the teams with 3:11 remaining on a 15-yard run, capping a quick 53-second drive.  But Beloit kept within a touchdown when Maughn hit Carrier from five yards out with just under a minute left.  The Pioneers recovered the onside kick and ran out the final seconds to secure the win.

Maughn finished with 254 yards passing while Terence Steward had 34 yards rushing on 12 carries.

On defense, Zach Bock had nine tackles, plus half a sack, while Kenny Williams and Rob Wujek each had eight tackles.  Mark Coogan had 1.5 sacks and Ian Dunning also recorded a sack and had the game's only interception.

The Buccaneers remain at home next weekend when they host Lake Forest College in a 1:00 p.m. game at the Stadium.
