Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Football team stood toe-to-toe with Ripon College on Saturday afternoon at Strong Stadium but a big fourth quarter by the Red Hawks was enough for the 20-6 loss.

The teams played scoreless ball through the first 25 minutes of the contest before RC got a 38-yard field goal five minutes before halftime for the only points of the opening two quarters.

Neither team scored coming out of the lockerroom before the Red Hawks struck on a 13-yard scoring pass six seconds into the fourth coming off a turnover. They made it 17-0 six minutes later on a short scoring run that completed a 61-yard drive and tacked on another field goal with 1:52 left from 34 yards away.

The Buccaneers got on the board with under a minute left when Julian Ross caught a 31-yard TD pass from Brian Maughn. The two-point conversion missed but the Bucs recovered the onside kick and Beloit had another chance but an interception ended the drive and Ripon ran out the final 35 seconds.

Maughn finished with 202 yards passing while Ross caught four passes for 77 yards. Terence Steward had 56 yards on 18 carries.

The Buc defense was led by Matt Fogerty, who had ten tackles, including 1.5 tackles for loss. Tony Baratti had nine tackles. Joe Goldufsky recovered a fumble to go along with six tackles while Quentin Layne had Beloit's interception to shut down an RC drive.

The Buccaneers head back to the road next Saturday, playing at Illinois College in Jacksonville, Illinois. Kickoff is at 1:00 p.m.
