Since 1961, one of the most popular cross country races in the region has been the Beloit College Olde English Cross Country Classic. It is one of the few English style cross country competitions in the Midwest.

More than 40 of the region’s top men’s and women’s teams over the years have converged on Beloit’s Leeson Park on Homecoming Weekend for the women’s 5-kilometer and men’s 8-kilometer races.

In 2010 the President's Open Race was added to the day's festivities, led by Beloit College President Scott Bierman and a group of Beloit faculty and staff.  The race is a challenge to other ACM schools with the winner receiving a unique traveling trophy (see below).

The Beloit College Classic is not only popular for the runners, but also for the spectators who see the competitors run over an assortment of obstacles. The runners cross a creek, maneuver through bales of hay, jump over steeplechase barriers, and traverse through all kinds of terrain.
