Ripon, WI -- The Beloit College Baseball team dropped a pair of games at Ripon College on Saturday as they opened a four-game Midwest Conference series, losing 3-2 in 11 innings in the opener before a 14-3 setback in game two.
In the first game Sean Little drove in the game's first run in the fourth on a fielder's choice before the Red Hawks pushed two across in the bottom of the inning to take the lead. Little came through again in the sixth to tie it up with another fielder's choice RBI. That's how it stayed into extra framers before Ripon loaded the bases with one out in the 11th and won it with a sacrifice fly.
In the nightcap the Bucs jumped on top with three in the first. Alex Lawrence drove in the first run with a single before Tyler Peacock hit a two-run single for a 3-0 lead. But that would be the extent of the Buccaneers' scoring in the game.
RC tallied two runs in the bottom of the first to pull within in a run and then took the lead for good in the third with four runs, three of them unearned. They added three more in the seventh and five in the eighth to end the contest early.
Grant Henricksen and Peacock each had two hits in the game.
Beloit gets the chance to pull even in the series on Sunday at The Ballpark at Strong Stadium when they host the Red Hawks for two games. First pitch is at 1:00 p.m.
