Winter Haven, FL -- The Beloit College Baseball team can't seem to shake the errors on their Spring Trip. And it hurt them again on Friday in a 6-3 loss to Penn State University-Altoona.
PSUA jumped on top in the bottom of the first with a run before the Buccaneers scored twice in the third to take the lead. Ethan Blumenthal doubled in Sean Little, who had walked, to tie it up. Blumenthal then stole third, his seventh steal of the trip, and continued on to score on a throwing error by the catcher. But the Lions knotted it up again in the bottom of the inning with an unearned run.
Penn State took the lead for good in the sixth inning with a pair of runs. Beloit pulled back to within 4-3 in the seventh when Andrew Edwards singled in Will Mack, who had doubled. But that was the end of the scoring for the Bucs. PSUA added two unearned runs in the bottom of the seventh to close out the scoring.
Grant Henricksen, Tyler Peacock and Mack each had two hits. Edwards gave up seven hits in seven innings on the mound, allowing just three earned runs while striking out five and walking one.
The Buccaneers close out their trip on Saturday when they play two against Becker College in Leesburg. First pitch is at 4:00 p.m. EST.
