Auburndale, FL -- The Beloit College Baseball team just couldn't get started and didn't help themselves in the field in a pair of losses to Coe College on Monday, falling 7-0 and 11-2.
In game two, Coe got things going early with a pair of unearned runs in the top of the first. They added three scores in both the third and fourth innings before the Bucs got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fifth. Beloit had five of their seven hits in the inning, getting run-scoring singles from Matt Meade, scoring Adrian Peil, and Ethan Blumenthal, scoring Jake Parrott, for their only two runs of the day.
The Kohawks added a single run in the sixth and two in the seventh to finish the sweep. The Buccaneers struck out ten times in the game while committing three errors.
In the opener, CC got three unearned runs in the bottom of the first to take control early. They added a run in the fifth and three in the sixth to finish it off. Beloit could only manage four hits on singles by Andrew Edwards, Alex Lawrence, Grant Henricksen and Meade while striking out seven times.
The Buccaneers look to turn things around on Tuesday when they play Eastern Mennonite University at 11:30 a.m. EST in Winter Haven.
