Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Baseball team got half of their work done on Senior Day Sunday at the Ballpark at Strong Stadium against Ripon College, coming from way behind to take game one 8-7 before the rains came midway through game two, suspending the contest in the bottom of the sixth with RC leading 5-4.
Seniors Jordan Jaenicke, Mitch Dubin, Alex Norman, Emory Nelms, Alex Jennings, Jake Tresemer, Evan Mascitti and Al Loth were all making their final appearances at The Ballpark.
Ripon scored once in the first, twice in the second and four times in the sixth to move out to a 7-0 lead. Beloit had just four hits going into the bottom of the sixth but an explosion was coming.
Jennings, Tresemer and Nelms all walked to open the bottom of the sixth. After a shallow flyout to left kept the bases loaded, Will Mack singled and the first baseman threw the ball into into left field to score Jennings and Tresemer while keeping men on first and second. Andrew Edwards then reached on a fielder's choice to load the bases again. Little forced in the third run when he drew a walk, making it 7-3, before Jaenicke capped the comeback with a grand slam to left that tied it up at 7-all.
The Bucs got the game-winner in the eighth inning when Tresemer hit a bases-loaded sacrifice fly to right to score Jaenicke, who led off the inning with a walk.
Beloit got rid of Ripon's threat to tie it up or take the lead in the ninth when Norman got out of a bases-loaded, nobody out jam with three pop-ups.
Norman got his sixth win of the season and moved into second place by himself with 18 career victories, giving up 16 hits but only one earned run. He struck out four and walked one.
Jaenicke and Mascitti both had two hits.
The teams will finish up the suspended game tomorrow in Ripon before finishing up the key series with the scheduled doubleheader. Action begins at 12 noon.
