De Pere, WI -- The Beloit College Baseball team split a Midwest Conference doubleheader at St. Norbert College on Saturday, winning game one 10-7 before dropping the nightcap 19-15.

In the opener, the game was scoreless through two innings before the Buccaneers put six on the board in the third.  Evan Mascitti singled in a run followed by Jordan Jaenicke scoring on a wild pitch.  Alex Jennings then made it 3-0 with a double and Al Loth added a fourth run with a single.  Alex Lawrence then capped off the big inning with a two-run single.  The Green Knights quickly cut that lead in half with three in the bottom of the inning.

Jake Tresemer hit a sacrifice fly in the third to push it back to 7-3 before SNC scored two in the fifth to pull within two.  Tresemer hit an RBI single in the top of sixth but St. Norbert scored two more in the bottom of six to make it a one-run game at 7-6.  But that was as close as they'd get.

Beloit tacked insurance runs in the eighth on a Jennings double and the ninth on Jaenicke's run-scoring single for the final scoring.

Alex Norman got his fifth win of the season.  The win gave him 17 for his career, tying him for second all-time with Dan Cleland (1993-96) and Matt Laszlo (1989-92).  Al Loth pitched three innings of one-hit relief for his third save of the season.

Mascitti finished with five hits while Jennings had four.  Jaenicke, Loth and Lawrence each had two.

In the second-game slugfest, the Green Knights scored four in the first and five more in the third to jump on top 9-0.  Beloit started their comeback with a four-run fourth with RBI's going to Emory Nelms on a bases-loaded walk, Lawrence with a single, Loth on a fielder's choice and Will Mack with a single.

The Buccaneers made the comeback complete with six runs in the fifth to take a 10-9 lead.  Lawrence, Loth and Andrew Edwards singled in runs, Mascitti hit a sacrifice fly and Jaenicke a two-run double.  But SNC regained the lead with four in the fifth to go up 13-10.

The Buccaneers battled back again with a four-run sixth, getting a run-scoring double from Nelms, a sacrifice fly by Loth and Jaenicke and an RBI single from Mascitti to make it 14-13, Beloit.

St. Norbert secured the lead for good with three runs in the sixth.  The Bucs pulled back to within one on Loth's RBI groundout in the seventh but SNC sealed it in the bottom of the inning with three runs.

Mack finished with four hits while both Tresemer and Lawrence had three.  Jennings added a pair of hits.

The two teams continue their series on Sunday at The Ballpark with two more games.  First pitch is at 1:00 p.m.
