Naperville, IL -- The Beloit College Baseball team dropped a pair of tight games to North Central College on Sunday, falling 3-2 and 8-7, with NCC scoring the winning run in the bottom of the ninth in both contests.

In the opener, Emory Nelms broke up a scoreless game with an RBI single through the left side, scoring Will Mack.  Alex Norman held the Cardinals hitless until they finally got their first one in the bottom of the sixth.  But that runner was erased with a double play and Norman had still faced the minimum.

North Central tied it with a run in the seventh before the Bucs retook the lead in the ninth on Evan Mascitti's run-scoring single to right, scoring Al Loth.  But NCC stole the win in the bottom of the ninth with three hits and spoil Norman's performance.

Norman gave up just three hits while walking one and not recording a strikeout in 8.0 innings of work.  Nelms and Mascitti both had two hits.

In game two Beloit grabbed the lead in the third on Alex Lawrence's bases loaded infield single, plating Loth.  They made it 6-0 with a five-run fourth.  Jake Tresemer had a two-run single, Jordan Jaenicke scored on a wild pitch, Andrew Edwards drove in a run with a single and Sean Little drew a bases loaded walk as the Bucs batted around.

But The Cardinals pulled close with a four-run sixth inning to make it 6-4.  The Buccaneers added an insurance tally in the eighth when Tresemer drove in his third run of the game with a single through the right side, scoring Jaenicke, who had singled and stole second.

But NCC put up four runs in the bottom of the ninth, winning it with a bases loaded walk-off single with one out.

Grant Henricksen went 6.0 innings, giving up eight hits while striking out three and walking two.  Tresemer finished the game with three hits.

The Bucs look to bounce back in their home opener on Wednesday at The Ballpark at Strong Stadium when they take on nationally-ranked Illinois Wesleyan University in a doubleheader.  The first game starts at 1:00 p.m.
