Auburndale, FL -- The Beloit College Baseball team started slow and then put it away in the middle innings on the way to a 10-2 opening day win over Rochester Institute of Technology on Sunday.
Playing as the home team, the Bucs got on the board first in the opening inning when Al Loth led off with a single and came around to score on a two-out single by Jake Tresemer.
It stayed that way till the fourth when Sean Little led off with a double and scored on Mitch Dubin's sacrifice fly to right. then the Buccaneers put the game away.
Beloit got three in the fifth and five in the sixth to jump up 10-0. Tresemer and Little had RBI singles and Tresemer scored on an error in the fifth. In the sixth Loth scored all the way from first on two errors to open the scoring. Tresemer doubled in Andrew Edwards and Jordan Jaenike and Emory Nelms singled in another run.
RIT got both of their runs in the eighth to close out the scoring.
Alex Norman picked up the win with seven shutout innings, giving up four hits while striking out six and walking one. Tresemer finished with three hits. Jaenicke, Little and Nelms got two hits each. Alex Jennings got his first career hit with a single in the fourth.
The Bucs continue the trip with a doubleheader in Leesburg on Monday starting at 10:00 a.m. against Central Region foe Aurora University.
