Bloomington, IL -- The Beloit College Baseball team got an up-close look at the 2010 NCAA Division III National Champions.  And they didn't much enjoy the view.

The Buccaneers fell twice at Illinois Wesleyan on Thursday, 12-2 and 12-4.

In game one, the Bucs jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning on Mike Ross' RBI single, which scored Jordan Jaenicke, who had also singled.  IWU scored three in the third and one in the fourth to take a 4-1 lead before Beloit cut the deficit in half in the fifth when Jon Siil hit a run-scoring groundout, scoring Dan Edwards, who had doubled.

That was it for the Buccaneer hits in the game.  Illinois Wesleyan scored two in the fifth and six in the sixth to take control of the seven-inning game.

In game two the Bucs again jumped on top early, plating three runs in the top of the opening inning.  Jaenicke had a run-scoring single, Ross an RBI double and Drew Oswald an RBI single to get things going.

The Titans scored a run in the bottom of the fourth to cut into the lead but Beloit got it back in the fifth on Jaenicke's single.

IWU then scored two in the fifth, three in the sixth, a single run in the seventh and then a big five in the eighth to secure the sweep.

Oswald finished with three hits while Mike Kovach and Jaenicke each had two.  Kovach also stole two bases to move within two of the career record.

The Buccaneers have some time off now before getting back on the field next Wednesday for a doubleheader at Wisconsin Lutheran College.  The game was originally scheduled for March 21 but was postponed because of poor field conditions.  First pitch is at 1:00 p.m.
