The 2011 Buccaneer Baseball season is less than two months away and two players have been recognized as players to watch by a national baseball publication.

Mike Kovach, a senior shortstop from Plainfield, Illinois, and Alex Norman, a junior left-handed pitcher from Elburn, Illinois, have been named "Players to Watch in NCAA Division III" by Collegiate Baseball  in their January 7 Pre-Season edition.

Kovach hit .362 in 2010 with a home run and 22 RBIs.  He also went 3-0 on the mound for the Buccaneers.  Kovach enters his senior season as the holder of the career record for batting average at .393.  He ranks in the top five in eight other career categories.  He also holds seven single-season records, all set during the 2009 Midwest Conference Championship season.

Norman was the Bucs' Pitcher of the Year in 2010 after posting a 4-1 record with a 3.62 ERA.  In two seasons on the mound for Beloit he has a career 5-1 record with two saves and an ERA hovering around 4.00.

The Buccaneers begin pre-season practices the first week of February.  They open their 2011 season on Sunday, March 6, with a doubleheader against Webster University in the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational in the Winter Haven area.
