Jordan Jaenicke, a sophomore third baseman for the Beloit College Baseball team from Bourbonnais, Illinois (Bishop McNamara) has been named to the American Baseball Coaches Association Central Region Rawlings Gold Glove Team.
Jaenicke took over the third base position in Florida and never let go, finishing with a .349 batting average and 20 RBIs. His 44 hits were the third-most on the squad while his 36 runs scored were fourth. He was also 5-5 on stolen bases.
In the field, Jaenicke had a .970 fielding percentage, third best on the team among players with 90-plus chances. He made just three errors in 99 chances. He was also involved in three double plays.
The Buccaneers finished the 2010 season with a 21-12 overall record, their second straight 20-win season, and 9-7 in the Midwest Conference.
