Loves Park, IL -- Dave DeGeorge doesn't talk a lot about personal milestones. But he hit a big one of Wednesday in the cold and rain at Road Ranger Stadium.

The Beloit College Baseball team came from behind to defeat Rockford College 10-9 and give DeGeorge his 275th career win as head coach. He is in his 20th season at the helm of the Buccaneers.

Rockford didn't look to be too gracious hosts early, scoring three times in the second and twice more in the third to jump out to a 5-0 lead.

Beloit finally got on the board in the fourth on Scott Slubowski's run-scoring single and an RBI groundout by Jordan Jaenicke to pull within 5-2. They then pulled to within a run in the fifth when Drew Oswald scored on an error and Andrew Heer knocked in a run with a two-out single.

RC made it 6-4 with a run in the bottom of the fifth before the Buccaneers took the lead for good with three in the sixth. Mike Kovach drove in Oswald, who had reached on a fielder's choice and then stole second. Ryan Schmitz then singled in Kovach, who also stole second, and Mike Ross followed Schmitz with an RBI double to score Slubowski and make it 7-5.

Beloit made it 9-6 in the seventh on a run-scoring double by Hunter Nelson and Kovach's second straight RBI single but the Regents pulled back to within one with two in the bottom of the inning.

The Bucs scored their final run in the eighth on Jaenicke's second run-scoring groundout of the game but Rockford kept it a one-run game with a score in the bottom of the eigfhth.

Schmitz, who had come in in the eighth, struck out two of the three batters in the ninth to close out his first save of the season.

Grant Henricksen recorded his first collegiate win.

The Buccaneers are now off until Saturday when they head to Appleton for the first two games of a four-game Midwest Conference series against Lawrence University. Game time is 1:00 p.m.
