Galesburg, IL -- The Beloit College Baseball team sent the month of March out like a lion on Wednesday afternoon with a sweep of Knox College, winning 13-5 and 14-2.
In game one Mike Ross got things going early with a two-run home run in the first. Hunter Nelson also had an RBI single in the inning. A run in the second made it 4-0 before Drew Oswald's two-run double keyed a three-run third to make it 7-0.
The Prairie Fire made a game of it with single runs in the third and fourth and three in the fifth to pull within 7-5 but the Bucs put it away in the seventh with six runs, including a two-run single by Rick Chernik and a three-run home run from Andrew Heer.
Mike Kovach got the win on the mound, going four and 2/3 innings. Chris Welborn finished up with a dominating two and 1/3 innings, striking out seven and giving up a lone single.

After Ross' RBI single and Jordan Jaenicke's sacrifice fly in the eighth, Beloit scored five in the ninth, highlighted by Ross' grand slam.

The Buccaneers stay on the road for a Friday doubleheader against Washington University of St. Louis at Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington. First pitch is at 1:30 p.m.
