Defending Champs a Close Second in MWC Pre-Season Poll

Ripon, WI -- The Beloit College Baseball team, defending Midwest Conference Champions, have been picked second in the MWC Pre-Season Coaches Poll, released Thursday by the Conference Office.

St. Norbert College received three first-place votes to the Buccaneers' two to narrowly claim the top spot in the North Division.

Ripon College was slotted third, Lawrence University fourth and Carroll University fifth.

In the South Division, Grinnell College received two first-place votes, topping Illinois College and Monmouth College, who both garnered one. Knox College rounded out the field.

The Bucs, 6-4 on the season to date, return a North Division-high of five All-MWC players (Jordan DeGeorge, Hunter Nelson, Ryan Schmitz, Scott Slubowski and Mike Kovach).

Beloit hosts Milwaukee School of Engineering in a doubleheader on Saturday at The Ballpark at Strong Stadium. First pitch is at 12:00 noon.

The Buccaneers open MWC play on Thursday, April 8, when they host Ripon College at The Ballpark.
