On the cover:

Marta Casey’08 and Lula Belle Brown visit Fairbanks Flats apartments where Brown once lived. Now under renovation, the Flats were built in Beloit in 1917 for African American factory workers recruited from the South. Casey and Brown met through a community-based theatre course, taught by professor Amy Sarno (theatre) and visiting Fulbright Scholar Darren Kelly, which helped collect and preserve oral histories of the Flats community. That project and the ensuing friendship with Brown became a highlight of Casey’s time at Beloit. Click here to read an essay by Casey.
