The college will test its emergency alert system on Wednesday (Sept. 2) at 12:30 p.m. As a part of the test, all faculty, staff, and students should receive an email, phone call, and text message at or around the common hour.
As a member of the Associated Colleges of the Midwest (ACM), Beloit College offers students numerous study-abroad programs, and we strongly encourage our majors to take full advantage of them. You might study in Japan or Hungary, in Peru or in Russia; the possibilities are almost limitless. Make an appointment to speak with someone in the Office of International Education, located in the International House (717 Chapin St.).
Below are students who have studied abroad. Some have given feedback and/or insight on their experience.
Samantha Matkovich (Class of 2010) - Goldsmiths University, London
I direct enrolled at Goldsmiths University in London, England. I thought it was a great school, but did not do much art/art history. I got the impression that it was better for studio than history. It was a great location for visiting museums!
Kellye Jaksik (Class of 2011) - CIEE Contemporary French Studies, Paris, France
My experience as a student in the CIEE Contemporary French Studies program was like a dream come true. As an Art History student with a lot of interest in European culture, Paris was the best location I could have chosen. So much was available to me in the city, and all it took was a short metro ride to get there. I was able to see so many amazing paintings, sculptures, and monuments that encompass the history and culture of France. I stayed with a French family in their apartment, was taught by French professors, and was given the opportunity to meet French students during my stay. I was also able to travel during the weekends, which really enriched my semester abroad. There is so much history right at your fingertips; I took a day trip to Aix-en-Provence and was able to take a tour of Paul Cezanne’s studio! I learned a great deal about French culture, and my speaking skills increased dramatically. The classes offered by the CIEE office in Paris are wonderful. All of my professors were very kind and personable, and I learned so many fascinating things. The memories I made abroad are priceless, and I can confidently say that studying abroad is an experience that will change your life.
