How to Volunteer for Beloit

Friday, June 14, 2013
1-4:30 p.m., Room 150, Center for the Sciences

Beloit College is offering several sessions for our alumni, friends and family on how to volunteer for Beloit. All are welcome to attend the entire program or stop in for a session or two. There will be time between sessions so come and go as your schedule allows. Stop in for one, or stay for all. Here's a quick look at the schedule:

Welcome and Kickoff, 1-1:10 p.m.
Alumni Board Chair Stacy Kern-Scheerer’00

Session 1: Prospective Students, 1:15-1:55 p.m.
How do students enroll at Beloit College? Learn what the admissions process is like for students in 2013 and how you can help to identify future Beloiters and build buzz about Beloit. Staff from the Admissions office will discuss opportunities to volunteer through college fairs, admitted student receptions, and networking with prospective students and parents.

Session 2: The Liberal Arts in Practice, 2-2:55 p.m.
What is the Liberal Arts in Practice (LAP), and how can you help students with internships and career networking? Learn about the new focus of the Liberal Arts in Practice Center (LAP-C), career development as learning, the new LAP curriculum requirement, and how alumni can use the LAP-C. We are revamping the Beloit Career Network, and we’ll tell you how to join in to mentor students or do your own networking. We’ll also explore other ways alumni can help, such as sourcing internships and jobs, hosting job shadowing, and connecting Beloit to recruiters and hiring managers in your organization.

Break: 2:55-3:10 p.m.

Session 3: Volunteer Where You Live, 3:10-3:55 p.m.

Wondering how you can meet fellow alumni and support Beloit College right where you are? The staff of Alumni & Parent Relations will discuss several opportunities to volunteer without leaving your house, neighborhood, or city. You can be a Class Agent and help keep your classmates connected to Beloit. You can join a Reunion Committee and help plan your next get-together. Or you can host a Beloit Regional Alumni Group (BRAG) event!

Closing: What’s On the Horizon for Beloit?, 4-4:30 p.m.
President Scott Bierman
Join President Bierman as he shares the most important things for you to know about our college’s immediate future, and how you can support Beloit.

Two fast ways to tell us you’ll be there.
