LAPC takes students to Milwaukee over break

October 30, 2013

Over break, the Liberal Arts in Practice Center and Development & Alumni Relations collaborated on a trip to Milwaukee for six students. The goal of the trip was to provide students with an understanding of for-profit business, from hiring practices to skills gained in a liberal arts education that are applicable in business to navigating organizational culture. The agenda is attached below, but here are a few highlights:

  • Site tour of Koss Corporation and business workshop on reading balance sheets, by CEO Michael Koss (see photo below)
  • Alumni panel about careers in business, with alumni Liz Ziner, Nate Fair, Zak Williams, and Kathy Ramirez
  • Personal tour of MSOE's Grohmann Museum's Man at Work Collection by alumnus James Kieselburg

Students also attended workshops that helped with resume development, interviewing skills, and learning how to adapt to the culture of business.

The students involved were: Mackenzie Endress, Alex Keesey, Dayton Bennett, Kejia Hu, Minh Nguyen, and Christopher Cadavid.

LAPC also took 10 students to the University of Illinois-Chicago Graduate School Fair over break.
