Still changing lives: Beloit remains in influential guidebook

The landmark college guide “Colleges That Change Lives” was recently updated and re-released this week, and Beloit College continues to be among the 40 higher education institutions recognized.  

“Colleges That Change Lives: 40 Schools That Will Change the Way You Think About Colleges” was written by the late Loren Pope who served as education editor of the New York Times in the 1950s. With more than 150,000 copies sold and 24 printings, it remains an essential guide book for many students—as well as one of the principal ways some students learn about Beloit.

Education writer Hilary Masell Oswald recently revised the guide, conducting all new school tours and conducting in-depth interviews.

"Prestige matters little at Beloit College, which is rather ironic because its graduates are an impressive bunch,” Masell Oswald wrote of Beloit. “For decades, the college has ranked among the top fifty colleges producing the highest percentage of the nation's future scientists and scholars."
