Biologist, ecologist, photojournalist, author, and explorer Mark Moffett’79 has recently added another note of distinction to his impressive list of accomplishments: he recently discovered what may be the world’s largest insect (pictured here, photo his own) after two days of exploring an island in New Zealand. The bug has a wingspan of seven inches, and can crunch through a carrot.
Moffet’s most recent book was Adventures Among Ants; he appears everywhere from late-night television talk shows to NPR’sFresh Air to discuss his work.
