  • President Bierman announces why we're moving forward, fast

    November 16, 2012

In a brief address broadcast live and online to Beloiters across the country and world November 15, Beloit College President Scott Bierman shared a list of recent accomplishments and accolades but saved most of his time to introduce and explain the college’s new campaign strategy and slogan—Fast Forward: The Campaigns for Beloiters.

See the announcement video here: “President Bierman introduces Fast Forward”

Calling out to alumni and friends of the college, Bierman asked that they join him in this devotion to the honest and important work of supporting the college and, more importantly, its people. The campaign slogan, “Fast Forward: The Campaigns for Beloiters,” he said, intentionally calls out this focus on those impacted by this set of carefully selected priorities, as well as the speed at which the college intends to tackle these initiatives.

  • Beloit College, Wisconsin Power and Light Company exploring possible reuse of power plant in downtown Beloit

    October 24, 2012

Beloit College is partnering with Wisconsin Power and Light Company (WPL) to explore the possible reuse of the company’s Blackhawk Generating Station as an activity and recreation center for the college. The Blackhawk facility, which has been retired since 2010, sits on the Rock River in downtown Beloit.

The college has been developing its plans for more than a year while in informal talks with WPL. Now, with the board’s approval, the college will continue to fully explore the project’s feasibility and to assess the site’s remediation needs with WPL. At the same time, the college will begin to fundraise for the project, which would require an estimated $30 million to complete. Learn more about the project here (including artist renderings) and read more in the Beloit Daily News and Janesville Gazette.

  • Homecoming Weekend brings fun, limousines...

    October 1, 2012

What a great weekend to be a Beloiter!

The students were especially creative with their parade floats - including a special appearance from a limousine and a turtle - Beloit took home the Shoehorn Trophy in the Olde English Classic; we cheered the Bucs in games all weekend; the field was full of tailgaters, alumni regrouped and played baseball, softball, and volleyball; alumni and families met with faculty, we honored the newest members of the Athletic Hall of Honor; and so much more. And what a beautiful fall weekend at Beloit! Can't wait to see all of you - including those that couldn't attend - at Reunion 2013. Mark those calendars for June 14-16, 2013.
