Chapin Society


Leadership takes on many roles. Beloit College’s first president, Aaron Lucius Chapin, poised the College for future greatness during his 36 year tenure. The venerable William Porter, Chapin’s brother-in-law and a life-long member of Beloit’s faculty, remarked that Chapin’s “…work was largely out of sight, laying foundations for a growth that was yet to come.”

One of the most compelling examples of leadership at present is that of Dave Threinen, class of 1956. He is a donor and member of the Chapin Society, serves on the Beloit College board of trustees, and is also the volunteer secretary of the Chapin Society. In the spirit of Aaron Lucius Chapin, he is helping to lay foundations for growth that is yet to come.

The Chapin Society recognizes those individuals, families, and organizations who have committed to a leadership level of generosity. Established in 1967, the Chapin Society acknowledges donors whose gifts are $1000 or more per year. Today, the Chapin Society encompasses five gift levels as follows:

Presidents Circle $5,000 - $9,999
Benefactors Circle $10,000 - $24,999
Founders Circle $25,000 or more
