Class of 1941

Banker – Civic Servant

Urged to attend college four years after high school graduation by the late Ellis Denney, your employer and a Beloit alumnus and trustee, you long ago repaid his faith and confidence through meritorious service to profession, community and Alma Mater.  On your way to the presidency of the Oak Park Trust and Savings Bank, you have contributed greatly to your professional field, notably as president of the Chicago chapter, American Institute of Banking, and as chairman of its Board of Regents.  Your enthusiastic community deeds have won you “outstanding citizen” honors, scouting’s Silver Beaver, many top leadership positions and recognition in journals listing prominent persons.  None, however, has benefitted more than Beloit College, to which you have given unselfishly of time and talent as a loyal alumnus, president of the Alumni Association and charter member of its Executive Board, and chairman of the 1970-71 Gold Circle campaign.  Because of your wisdom, compassion and humanistic sense, Beloit is pleased and proud to tender this citation to you.
