Class of 1925

50th Reunion Award

Psychiatrist – Humanist

A Virginian who came to Wisconsin to complete his undergraduate studies, you have devoted your life to private psychiatry and extended your skills to the local, state and national levels of mental health.  Your 40-year association with the Westbrook Psychiatric Hospital, the oldest such institution in your native state, has included responsibilities as its medical director and as corporation president and treasurer.  Recipient of the M. D. degree from the Medical College of Virginia, where you have served on the faculty, you have been president of such important agencies as the National Association of Private Psychiatric Hospitals, Virginia Neuropsychiatric and Seaboard Medical societies, Memorial Guidance Clinic, and State Association for Mental Health.  A diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, you have been on Governor’s Board on Mental Hygiene and the Task Force on Health Services for the Aging.  Because your humanistic service and concerns represent the fulfillment of its goals, Beloit College is honored to award you this citation as your Class of 1925 gathers to celebrate the 50th anniversary of its commencement.
