Funding is available for international students, however we do limit our support to no more than 40 to 50% of our direct costs (tuition, fees, room and board). This level of support includes both scholarship and work opportunity on campus.
All international students applying for admission to Beloit must complete the Declaration of Finances, which summarizes the sources and amounts of financial support which they expect to have in each year of study at Beloit College. Those students requesting financial aid consideration must also complete the International Student Application for Financial Aid. These forms can be downloaded in PDF format by clicking [here]. They are also included with our International Student Supplement to the Common Application.
The College Board’s International Student Financial Aid Application (ISFAA) may be submitted in place of the Beloit College financial forms.
Because funding for international students is limited and competitive, we recommend that all application materials be complete by January 15 for fall admission and October 15 for spring. International transfer applicants who are currently studying in the United States should complete their applications no later than March 15 for fall admission and November 1 for spring.
Based on the student's need and also upon the student's academic merit, we will then make a decision as to how much we are willing and able to fund the student. Thus, the determination to award aid to a given student will be based upon demonstrated "need," but the dollar amount awarded will be determined by how strong the applicant is academically. Approximately 75% of international students attending Beloit receive some financial assistance from the College.
In addition, each year we award up to four World Affairs Center (WAC) Scholarships. These scholarships can range up to full tuition, depending upon the student's need. As you can imagine, competition for these scholarships is very keen. There is no special application that a student needs to fill out to be considered for these WAC scholarships. Eligible candidates will be selected during the application reading process. Since WAC scholarship decisions are made in early February, applicants who wish to be considered for the scholarships must have their application materials complete by the 15th of January at the latest. Keep in mind that, although the WAC scholarships can cover full tuition, other expenses such as room, board, books, supplies, personal expenses, and travel would not be covered. Beloit College does not offer any "full-ride" scholarships covering the full cost of attendance.
Aside from these financial aid opportunities, international students are not eligible for other scholarship consideration (i.e., merit or academic scholarships). Outside sources of funding can sometimes be located, but researching and securing such funding is the responsibility of the student.
