Beloit College emphasizes outstanding teaching and learning, an absolute commitment to academic excellence and challenge, and the value students gain as a result. Beloit hones the skills, creativity, and understanding necessary for success in a complex and dynamic world in every aspect of college life. Beloit is one of the 40 "Colleges That Change Lives" and one of only 21 U.S. colleges that belong to all three of the prestigious consortia known as the Science 50, the International 50, and the Business 50 – U.S. colleges that produce unusually high numbers of leaders in the sciences, international affairs and business. Nearly 70% of Beloit graduates complete graduate or professional degrees within ten years of graduation.
Beloit College prides itself on offering students the potential to put their education into action. With the resources of the Center for Entrepreneurship in Liberal Education at Beloit (CELEB), Field and Career Services (FACS), and the Community Outreach Center, students from 47 states and 34 foreign countries have the opportunity to actively engage the world of ideas by starting small businesses, finding or creating internships, and working in the community. Beloit students graduate able to make critical connections between thought and action and positively impact the communities of which they become a part.
Beloit College also led the nation in recognizing that the transition from high school to college is a process that, for many, takes two years. Our First Year Initiative (FYI) and Sophomore Year Initiatives programs serve as "best practice" for colleges and universities across the nation. Beloit is a leader in student involvement and engagement: students are actively involved in campus governance, organizations and activities. For those students who don't find a club or activity to match their interests, Beloit will provide the resources to help them organize one. Students can be counted upon to welcome and learn from the wide diversity - of geography, culture, race, socio-economics, gender, and sexual orientation - represented within its community. Living and learning with students, faculty, and staff from all over the world and all kinds of backgrounds makes Beloit a very special place to be.
