For the purposes of this document, program providers are considered any organization, college or university sponsoring study opportunities.

To whom do I pay tuition when I study on a domestic program? Students enrolled in domestic programs through Beloit College pay Beloit College tuition. All domestic programs are non-Beloit programs. The non-Beloit program provider bills Beloit College directly for tuition. If the program tuition exceeds Beloit College tuition, the student pays the difference to the provider.

What does tuition cover? Tuition is understood as costs related to a program’s instructional program excluding round-trip travel to the site, health insurance, and room and board. Depending on the program, the tuition fee may include costs related to tuition, orientation, study tours, facilities use, advising, textbook use, staff, and transcripts.

What if my program has a comprehensive fee? Program providers can break out what is covered in a comprehensive fee. Beloit can pay only the tuition portion of the comprehensive fee; all other items must be paid by the student to the program provider. The ACM "program fee" is billed to the student through Beloit College.

Who pays the deposit for my domestic program? If your program charges a deposit, you will need to pay this directly to the program. Deposits are often required at the time of acceptance to confirm your place in the program. It is important to find out early the amount of the deposit and when it will be due.

Can I take a vacation term to study on a domestic program? Yes, you may, but you will not receive Beloit College financial aid if you are on a vacation term. To receive Beloit financial aid you must be enrolled at Beloit College for a credit semester.

Will I receive credit if I take a vacation term? If you take a vacation term to study on a domestic program, or at a U.S. college or university, the credit you receive is considered transfer credit. You need to consult with the Registrar regarding that credit before you enroll in the program. Students should note that the maximum number of units that can be transferred toward the Beloit degree is 15.  Further, only 2 units of these units may be earned in the senior year.

Will my financial aid apply to domestic study expenses? Financial aid applies to a semester-long domestic program according to the student’s eligibility. Beloit scholarship funds can be applied to tuition costs. Federal financial aid, depending on a student's eligibility, can be applied to program costs beyond tuition.

Are there any scholarships for domestic programs? There may be, depending on the program and on financial eligibility. Students are encouraged to apply for external scholarships if available for the program. Further scholarship information can be found on the program's website.

How do tuition remission and tuition exchange apply to domestic programs?
Tuition remission and tuition exchange do not apply to any domestic programs. Students interested in attending such a program may apply for need-based aid.

For more information, see Program Fees Table (link below). To facilitate the processing of awards, students should complete the Budget Worksheet for Study Off-Campus and bring it to the Financial Aid Office.

How much will a domestic program cost? Keep in mind, that depending on where you study, costs for room and board and other items may be higher than at Beloit College. Programs located in large cities or with special facilities will cost more. Local transportation may be an additional cost.

Gather as much information as you can by reading information provided by the host university or program sponsor, and talking to students who have studied there. Discuss the expenses with your family. Using the Budget Worksheet f, draw up a budget to determine what your program will cost.

Study on domestic programs will cost more than a semester at Beloit College, but it should be affordable if you budget well and plan ahead.
