Enrollment Capacity
As a residential college committed to learning through extensive interactions with peers and teachers, Beloit College tries to maintain an even distribution of students living and studying on campus  between the fall and spring semesters.  With this commitment in mind, the College regulates participation in off-campus study to achieve its on-campus enrollment goals. Participation on domestic programs is limited to 20 students per year and only one U.S. semester program per student.

Domestic programs
Domestic Off-campus Study programs offer students the opportunity to participate in a topical program at another university. Such programs are designed and offered to afford students the opportunity to add a special dimension to their studies, such as studying international development or law in one of American University's Washington Semester programs, or working in a non-Governmental organization in Chicago through the ACM Urban Studies Program. Students may also propose a program for approval.

Beloit College reserves 20 semester slots per year for enrollment in domestic off-campus programs.  Should there be more qualified applicants than available slots, priority will be given to students who will not also study abroad.

Prerequisites
Applicants to off-campus programs through Beloit College need to check the prerequisites for their chosen program. For example, some programs have a requirement that the student have completed 2 years of college work in order to participate. Students are encouraged to enroll in courses with a focus in that area of study. There may be other requirements for programs, such as a grade point average of 3.0 or above. In addition, students should work with their faculty members to develop a course plan that allows them to advance to junior status by completing their distribution requirements during their first two years of study. Juniors and seniors planning to study off-campus should have completed distribution requirements. Students planning to study off-campus as sophomores should have a plan for completing their distribution requirements while away or immediately thereafter.

Credit and Grades
Students need to be familiar with how the host institution awards academic credit and how that will translate into Beloit College credit.

Courses taken on domestic programs will be posted on the transcript with grades, and the grades are calculated into the gpa.
(Courses taken on overseas programs will be posted on the student's transcript along with the grades, but grades will not be calculated into the gpa.)
