The Weissberg Chair was established in 1999 at Beloit College by Washington, D.C. real estate developer and internationalist Marvin Weissberg, to support an on-campus residency for a distinguished individual who has made an important contribution to international understanding.

Marvin Weissberg, a Beloit parent ('84), is a director of the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs, a member of the Urban Land Institute’s International Counsel, the World Affairs Counsel, the InterAmerican Dialogue, and the Roosevelt Institute, among other international organizations. He is also active on the boards of several theaters in Washington. He received an honorary degree from Beloit College in 2005.
